In moments of grief, families are often overwhelmed not only emotionally but logistically. Conclude was born from a simple, deeply human insight: while grief can’t be simplified, bureaucracy can.

INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION
The current death administration process in the UK is fragmented, slow, and emotionally taxing. Families must notify dozens of institutions, cancel subscriptions, manage funeral arrangements, and locate key documents—all while grieving.
We identified the need for a centralised, empathetic digital solution that acts as both a guide and a companion.

WEB DASHBOARD DESIGN
The dashboard was designed as a calm, centralised space that adapts to each user’s situation. Prioritising clarity and ease of use, the layout breaks complex post-death tasks into manageable steps, with a progress-based system that gently guides users forward. We focused on creating a tone of quiet reassurance, using neutral palettes and conversational microcopy to balance utility with compassion. Privacy, accessibility, and emotional design were key considerations throughout.

WEBSITE DESIGN
The public-facing website acts as both an introduction to Conclude and an invitation to trust. Structured with a clean, minimalist layout, it highlights our mission, key features, and community backing without overwhelming visitors during a sensitive time. We used clear information hierarchies and gentle visual language to convey professionalism while maintaining warmth. The site played a vital role in validating demand, supporting pilot partnerships, and opening channels for feedback from users and bereavement organisations.
The research culminated in a set of design objectives for the intervention:
Promote Controlled Failure: Create an environment where failure is inevitable but safe, allowing participants to practice resilience.
Encourage Reflection: Include guided prompts to help children process emotions and extract lessons from setbacks.
Leverage Tangibility: Use physical objects to make abstract concepts like resilience and growth more relatable and memorable.
Foster Collaboration: Design activities that require teamwork to normalize shared challenges and collective problem-solving.
And what better way to achieve these goals than through a fun and engaging board game? In Kintsugi, players use a set of stacking stones, action cards, and gold polymer clay to simulate controlled failure and subsequent repair.
